Better a real house, especially if it costs as much as a container
Three generous neighbours have made available land to us, with a breathtaking panorama, a  few steps from the historic center.
With the help of volunteer lawyers and architects, we designed and we are beginning to build seven small houses to be ready before cold weather. We are showing that it’s possible to build cheap houses,environmentally friendly and fast to build if we use mainly natural materials, cheap and available locally: the supporting structure in wood, the curtain walls of straw bales, reinforced concrete minimized, wood pellet stove for warm, solar panels and photovoltaic panels that will give us electricity and hot water that we need. Manpower is ourselves that hold the work’s tools  and prefer the active hard work to the compulsory indolence of the earthquake refugee. So, with the amount of 150 thousand euros with which you would usually pay a small house, we can construct seven of them; but remember that we have lost everything and that the state is not helping us, so even that little money which we need, it is a lot.

Better direct solidarity
Italians have already been generous and have signed a lot of money for the earthquake, but unfortunately only few tents and a lot of words arrived.
This extra effort that we ask, however, goes directly from you to us: you will have names and surnames of those who use it, you can check on this site as the process proceeds, especially you can participate in the decision-making process.
These two or three room flats will allow us not to abandon Pescomaggiore while waiting for reconstruction and to keep alive our social relations.

The intention is to speak with the people about reconstruction plans through participatory planning, listening at first to their needs, and then accompany them to the building of their own “space”, not only made of building material but above all of social and cultural links.

Only through a transparent collaboration between people, local authorities, professionals and businesses, we can turn this natural catastrophic event in a starting point for effective reconstruction, with a view to regive a “home” to those who now live in a tent and a “rebirth” to who does not believe that this can happen in a globalized system that tends to steer people to be closed inside themselves and brings social relations to deterioration.
